Inventory and Spiceworks, Windows 7 Upgrade

When I started at my current employer, one of my major projects and initives was to get our inventory and assets logged and under control. I explored numerous different applications and options, with price ranging from free to thousands. Nothing seemed to be easy to use, scalable, cost efficent, or worth while. I stumbled upon Spiceworks in the late part of 2008, and made my initial install of January of 2009. I was pleasently suprised to see that I had found what would be exactly what we need. Spiceworks is a web based inventory, helpdesk, and support system that is amazing. The community is amazing, and is a great place to turn to for help with issues you may encounter. The helpdesk ticketing system is a great application and has made our helpdesk much more efficent. It was a battle trying to find somethign that satisfied my boss and upper management for reporting purposes, but this app has done it all and made me look great! I know I may sound like I'm being paid to write this, but the truth is I just can't express enough how much this platform has made my job easier.

Anyways, give it a shot and at least do some reading on it at the least. http://community.spiceworks.com/referral/20130ae90df77f80b3aeb332f6c98283

On another note, Windows 7 RTM is slated for mid July. It's official, the packaging has been released! On Friday, 6/26 https://windows7upgradeoption.com/ is going to be launched with details on upgrade options for XP/Vista users. Should be an interesting pricing tier due to the FAILURE of Vista IMO.
